Lieutenant-Governor (L-G) Anil Baijal on Wednesday approved the proposal to allow only 50 people to attend wedding functions in the national capital.

The decision came a day after the Delhi Government sent a proposal on Tuesday to the Lieutenant-Governor (L-G), the Government seeking to permit only 50 people to attend wedding functions now against the earlier limit of 200 people.

The Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) also issued a statement saying that in closed and open spaces, a maximum of 50 per cent of the hall capacity will be allowed with a ceiling of 50 persons. Wearing of face masks, maintaining social distanced provision for thermal scanning and use of hand wash or sanitizer will continue to be mandatory, it said.

“All protocols as stipulated in ‘Standard Operating Procedure’ as appended to the DDMA order earlier shall continue to apply in all marriage related gatherings in NCT of Delhi,” it added. All District Magistrates of Delhi, their counterpart Deputy Commissioners of Police and all authorities concerned shall ensure strict compliance of this order and shall adequately inform and sensitize the field functionaries about these instructions for strict compliance, it added.

Delhi has witnessed a spurt in novel coronavirus cases since October 28 when the daily rise breached the 5,000-mark for the first time and it crossed the 8,000-mark on November 11.
