The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) New Delhi candidate Meenakshi Lekhi has refuted the allegation made by the her rival Brijesh Goyal of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) over sealing drive in Delhi, saying that sealing process was in the national Capital was first taken in 2008 but the drive was actually took place just a year before the general elections in the year 2018.
“This Government made an amendment in the Master Plan of Delhi to allow the residents of the people having their plots in the Lal Dora area to use their respective lands for the storage/godown purposes. This gave a huge relief to the people of urban villages whose major source of earning
were these godowns and
were given a relief from the sealing.
Further a FAR of 350 percent has been given to Local Shopping Complexes and a 100 percent usage of these LSCs for commercial activities in the amended Master Plan. This has provided further employment to thousands of the residents,” said Lekhi.
The Government has also allowed the people to use 11kw and 9 labours for the non polluting trades which allowed the residents to use the spaces of their respective houses to earn their living.
She said that “Why the Delhi government hasn’t taken a decision over this as yet.
This decision has to be taken by the Delhi government and this careless Delhi government has been procrastinating this since it came to power.”
She further asked
Goyal that why the demarcation of the land hasn’t been done yet of the unauthorized colonies.
“There are more than 1700 unauthorised colonies in Delhi with nearly 40 lakhs people living in it. Despite regular demands, the AAP ruled Government has not done the demarcation yet, and this leads to constant fear of demolition of their houses in these colonies. This is the job of Delhi Government to demark these colonies and again they showed huge negligence in this case,” she said.
