last cut-off: 59k take admission in DU's UG courses

More than 59 thousand admissions in various merit based undergraduate (UG) courses of Delhi University (DU) took place by the end of seventh and the last 'general cut-off' on Wednesday. While on the last day alone 1355 candidates took admission. Admissions for the 'general category students” have effectively ended now as all available seats are filed up.

According to an official statement issued by the DU administration, the 8th cut-off slated on 13 August would be only for the reserved category of candidates that includes Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Other Backward Class (OBC).

DU which had earlier decided to come up with only five cut-offs has to extend the number of cut-offs as seats in various courses at colleges were still vacant by the end of fifth cut-off despite of total number of admissions exceeding the sanctioned strength. While a reserved category drive in form of 8th cut-off is indispensable for making admissions figures in tune with reservation policy.

At the Non-Collegiate Women Education Board (NCWEB) of Delhi University a total of about 10741 admissions took place.
