After regularisation of unauthorised colonies and successful implementation of the food security programme in Delhi, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Sunday promised Delhiites the land Acquisition Bill ahead of Assembly polls slated in November this year.
Addressing a huge gathering at Sangam Vihar in south east Delhi, Dikhsit said the land Acquisition Bill 2013 would ensure appropriate compensation and cost of the land which people have given for various Government projects. “The new Bill will ensure that people get the current market rate of the land that has been acquired by the Government,” Dikshit said.
The Chief Minister assured the people that not a single house would be demolished in unauthorised colonies in the Capital. “As promised, the biggest unauthorised colony of Sangam Vihar has been protected from demolition. The development work in around 1,400 unauthorised colonies, including Sangam Vihar, are on,” she said, adding her Government would do its best to solve water scarcity in Sangam Vihar. “Putting an end to water mafia in Sangam Vihar is on the cards. No one in Sangam Vihar will be deprived of drinking water,” Dikshit assured.
She emphasised on the developmental projects, including construction of roads, undertaken by her Government. Taking a swipe at Opposition BJP without naming the party, Dikshit said they have had nothing to do with development , their sole agenda being to defame the Government and mislead the people. “The roads in rural Delhi have been relaid and strengthened by the PWD under Delhi Government for Rs 1,800 crore since these were being neglected by the municipal corporations ruled by a political party which had nothing to do with development.
The city Government is working to expand the Metro network. Badarpur Metro line is being extended from one side up to Faridabad and on other side up to Kashmere Gate. The world-class DTC buses are plying in adequate numbers in villages,” the Chief Minister averred.
Referring to the regularisation of unauthorised colonies, Dikshit stated that no such colony would remain deprived of basic amenities. “Our Government has been involved in uniform development of the city. The previous Government had nothing to do with development and progress of the city. They changed three Chief Ministers during their regime of five years as they were all out to play with the sentiments of the people. Now, they are making unbelievable promises. Their intention is to mislead the people with the aim to harvest political gains,” she said.
Dikshit reiterated that power rates in Delhi are much cheaper compared to NCR towns and other metro cities. However, she expressed concern over supply of raw water to Delhi which, she said, was the reason for the water shortage in some areas. Delhi’s Urban Development Minister Arvinder Singh lovely and South Delhi MP Ramesh Kumar were among those present on the occasion.
