After repeated failures by the Delhi Government's special purpose vehicle DIMTS to submit feasibility study of various crucial infrastructure projects, the transport department has decided to carry out a special audit into its functioning.
Major projects for which detailed feasibility reports are to yet be filed include the BRT Corridor from Jamia Nagar to Tilak Nagar and foot overbridge in Jangpura.
Further, in 2012, DIMTS was given the responsibility of preparing the feasibility study of six BRT corridors, which include Shastri Park to Karawal Nagar, Moolchand to Jahangirpuri, Kondli to Gokulpuri, Jamia Nagar to Tilak Nagar, Nizamuddin to Nand Nagri and Rajendra Nagar to Pragati Maidan.
A letter has been sent to DIMTS recently, where the Transport Department sought clarification from DIMTS on several projects.
The letter mentions that despite giving reminders since March this year, DIMTS has failed to provide them with the detailed audit report and so a special audit will be conducted by the State Transport Department.
Even after a month, the Department is still not able to provide the details of all the schemes entrusted to DIMTS. As a result, the audit could not be progressed. According to the letter, DIMTS has been asked to provide relevant work orders, showing assignments of such study, initial MoU with DIMTS and State Government as well as the initial terms and references to conduct the feasibility study of the BRT corridor from Jamia Nagar to Tilak Nagar two months ago, but they have not been able to provide the details.
DIMTS have also been asked to provide the initial base files for the construction of a foot-over-bridge at Jangpura.
The letter mentions that the detail audit plan is to be worked out by the audit team taking into consideration the number of total schemes and projects, the expenditure involved in each projects.
