'lack of sub-stations lead to power crisis in Gzb'

The Residents’ Welfare Association of Ghaziabad has alleged that the local civic body of Ghaziabad is responsible for the short power supply in the city.

During RWA-District Administrative Officers’ regular meeting, the RWA Federation chairman Colonel (Retired) Tejendra Pal Singh Tyagi said the root cause of power cuts in the colonies is the lax attitude of Municipal Corporation officials. They have not responded to the communications of the UPPCl for allotting land for 33/11 KV and 132 KV power stations.

The RWA representative cited UPPCl letters to City Commissioner in which the power corporation has been crying inescapable need of allotment of land for the construction of sub-station, but to no avail.

The UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav had promised that by 2016, 16 hours power supply in rural areas, 22 hours power supply in district headquarters and 24 hours power supply in Mahanagars will be ensured .  To achieve this objective, a number of 33 KV/11 KV sub-stations are required to be constructed in 2015, besides the sub-stations of higher capacity like 132 KV. For the same, the land needs to be given by the local municipal bodies.

“When the SE, UPPCl SN Yadav was contacted by the residents over non-completion of sub-stations and intolerable erratic power supply in Kailash Nagar, Bheem Nagar, Chipyana Bagu, Adarsh Nagar, Dundaheda and other adjoining areas, he said that the non-allocation of land by the Nagar Nigam for the construction of power stations was responsible,” said Col. Tyagi.

“The DM Vimal Kumar and all other administrative officers present during the representation assured for the positive action,” added the RWA Chairman.

“We have asked the Municipal Commissioner to act promptly for the allocation of land for the power stations,” said the DM.
