lieutenant-Governor of Delhi Anil Baijal has approved notification for declaration of 95 villages in Delhi as development areas of Delhi Development Authority (DDA) under Section 12 (1) of Delhi Development Act 1957 in five zones including K-1 zone having 20 villages, 30 villages in l, 21 villages in N, 23 villages in P-II zone and one village in J zone respectively. This declaration is a major step in the implementation of the land pooling policy for the creation of affordable housing units in the Capital by harnessing the private potential in land assembly and physical and social infrastructure development.
It is estimated that the declaration of these 95 villages as development areas of DDA would help in providing up to 25 lakh houses in these planned areas of the city. DDA shall be responsible for the development of physical & social infrastructure development in these development areas like sewerage, water supply, electricity supply, bus terminals etc.
