Some bureaucrats were surprised to see the presence of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s trusted lieutenant Principal Secretary (services) and 1989 batch IAS officer Rajendra Kumar in the officers’ gallery inside the Delhi Assembly during one-day special session on Tuesday.
Many told The Pioneer on the condition of anonymity that Kumar should not have come to the Assembly since he is facing a CBI enquiry and his presence in the House may go against him.
The other side of the story is that since raids were conducted on his office, Kumar’ sympathisers in the Aam Admi Party (AAP) Government have soared with all the MlAs vouching for him.
“I was surprised to see Kumar in the House during a debate on Tuesday. He shouldn’t have attended the House proceedings in which the entire House or ruling party MlAs were accusing Centre on the issue of irregularities in DDCA and CBI raids at Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s office,” said a senior officer on the condition of anonymity. Another bureaucrat said Kumar should maintain distance from Assembly proceedings as it was pre decided and well prepared draft to accuse Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley. Another bureaucrat said Kumar’s action was not like an official and his action was like AAP leader or think-tank.
