With over two weeks left for the Assembly elections, the BJP on Monday kickstarted its constituency wise campaigning with its face and fresh entrant Kiran Bedi’s roadshow in Rohini. Her roadshow attracted a sizeable crowd most of which were women who stepped out of their homes to have a glimpse of the first woman IPS officer of the country. Bedi, in her first direct address to the public promptly mentioned “women’s security” as her top priority and did not fail to mention her 6-P formula towards the issue.
The enthusiasm of the crowd was quite palpable with most of them cheering and shouting slogans, Pradhan Mantri Modi, toh Mukhya Mantri Bedi (If Prime Minister is Modi then Chief Minister should be Kiran Bedi). While addressing the gathering, Bedi directly urged the people to vote for the BJP to bring in stability through creating an alignment between the Centre, the lieutenant Governor in the Capital and the three municipal corporations.
“I don’t know how to give speeches but only know how to get work done. Women safety in the city is my priority. Problem arises when there are differences between the lG and the Chief Minister (CM). They tussle with each other and usually engage in mudslinging. This is not necessary every time. We should bring such a Government who can coordinate,” said Bedi to the audience.
“I have come here to devote myself for Delhi. I am for BJP, there is BJP Government in the Centre and there is need to bring that in Delhi also. I know administration and I have worked there for years, besides I have experience also,” she added. She also promised that she will ensure a corruption-free and “holistic administration” in the national Capital.
Stressing on the security of women in the national Capital, Bedi urged people to respect women. “Respect of women will come from each home when parents respect their daughters, brothers respect their sisters then there will be respect for women.”
Amidst heavy crowd, the North-West Delhi’s Rohini area came to a standstill with huge traffic jams, as many turned up on the streets to see her. Other party leaders like MP Udit Raj and Vijender Gupta were also present with Bedi.
