In yet another shocking incident reported in the city, a four-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by an unidentified paedophile. The incident was reported on Friday last after the distraught parents of the badly injured girl lodged a complaint with the Begumpur police station. The incident has once again raised the issue of safety and security of minor girl students studying in Government-run schools and private schools as well.
The victim identified a 15-year-old boy working on the school premises as the accused. The minor offender was questioned by police and the child welfare committee officials. He was found to be present in Jammu & Kashmir on the day the crime was perpetrated. Police officials said that the kindergarten student was too traumatised and a woman counseller was assigned to speak to her. Police teams are scanning rowdies of the area and their movements are being checked, a senior police official of the Outer district said.
Police said that the parents of the four-year-old girl child approached the officials of Begumpur police station in Outer Delhi district on Friday and lodged a complaint that their child was sexually assaulted inside the school premises. The mother of the girl noticed discomfort in her daughter who narrated her ordeal. The victim was experiencing excruciating pain in her abdomen and she was taken for medical treatment.
According to police, the girl told her parents that someone lured her to a secluded place inside the school premises and sexually assaulted her, two days ago. Police said a case was lodged at Begumpur police station following a medical exam on the girl, which confirmed the assault. Investigators said they were also profiling suspects in the area who carry a hoary past and the staff of the school has been questioned as well.
The rape of a five-year-old in municipal corporation run school in Mangolpuri area last year had triggered uproar in the national Capital. The accused was never arrested despite angry residents laying siege to the area and protesting at the school gates. The unspeakable crime of Begumpur is an eye-opener and should lead the concerned Government agencies to ensure the safety and security of minor girl students, said an official.
