Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has written a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, seeking regularisation of New Delhi Municipal Council's (NDMC) ‘regular muster roll’ (C and D group) employees.
In the letter, Kejriwal wrote that there are around 4,500 employees in NDMC who are presently working as regular muster roll (RMR) and are waiting to become regular employees of NDMC.
Through his letter, Kejriwal also drew Shah’s attention to the issue of approval of recruitment rules of Group ’C’ posts in NDMC for grant of permanent employee status to these employees.
“The proposal for approval of draft recruitment rules of group C posts in NDMC had been sent to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) vide letter dated September 25, 2020 after approval of the Council in its meeting on August 4, 2020,” stated the letter.
“Subsequently revised proposal was sent through letter dated April 16, 2021. These RMRs are waiting for many years for their regularization against the existing vacancies in NDMC in the erstwhile group ‘D’ (now upgraded to Group ‘C’ posts),” the letter further said.
“In this regard, various communications and replies sent to MHA are being enclosed for ready references. These employees have devoted a number of years as TMR and RMR in NDMC and are suffering for long for want of regularization as regular employees of NDMC,” the letter further added.
“Keeping in view of the urgency of the matter, it is kindly requested to issue necessary directions for speedy approval of the draft recruitment rules of Group C so that these RMR employees can be made regular NDMC employees and would resolve their long pending grievance,” Kejriwal further said in the letter.
