Kejriwal to undertake country wide ‘yatra’ from today

After the Congress, the AAP has also decided to undertake a country-wide ‘yatra’, as part of the party’s “Make India Number 1” campaign, from Hisar in Haryana on Wednesday. The yatra is seen as the AAP attempts at expanding its base beyond Delhi and Punjab.“ I will undertake a country wide  yatra from my birth place, Hisar in Haryana from Wednesday. From there one by one, I will go to all States and will join people in the movement. People can join the movement by giving a missed call to 9510001000.

AAP convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday announced while addressing a digital press conference that he will undertake a country wide  yatra from my birth place, Hisar in Haryana from Wednesday. “From there one by one, I will go to all States and will join people in the movement. People can join the movement by giving a missed call to 9510001000.

A few days back, we had launched a programme Make India number 1. It is the dream of 130 crore people that India will become world’s number one country,” Kejriwal said.

He alleged that because of traditional political parties and politicians India was left behind and if it is left to them, then India will remain backward for another 75 years. Now, there will have to be an alliance of 130 crore people, if it happens, then no one can stop from making India the world’s number 1 country. To achieve this, I had said that I will be going to each state and will try to join people to this movement,” Kejirwal said.

The chief minister also  asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to prepare a plan in consultation with all states to upgrade the country’s 10 lakh government schools in the next five years.

Kejriwal’s reaction comes after Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday announced the Pradhan Mantri Schools For Rising India (PM-SHRI) Yojana under which 14,500 schools from across the country will be upgraded as PM-SHRI schools.

Kejriwal said India cannot become the number one country in the world unless it ensures good quality, free education for every child.

"This is a very good thing but just modernising 14,500 schools is like a drop of water in the ocean. At this rate it will take 70-80 years to improve all the 10.5 lakh schools in the country," said Kejriwal.

Sources in the AAP  said that it won't be a continuous yatra and will be done over a period of time. "The aim is to save the country in the 2024 election," sources said. After Hisar, Kejriwal will visit as part of this yatra will be Rajasthan.

Political experts says that Kejriwal is actually considering his to be the most important role in BJP’s Congress Mukt Bharat campaign. “That is why he does politics in those states where there is a direct contest between the BJP and Congress,” they added.
