Kejriwal shoots off letter to NCW chief

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday wrote to National Commission for Women (NCW) Chairperson lalita Kumarmangalam alleging that “politically motivated” cases are being “foisted” upon his party’s legislators.

Kejriwal’s letter came a week after AAP leader Ashutosh was summoned by the women’s body for his controversial blog in which he had defended sacked Delhi Minister Sandeep Kumar over an “objectionable” CD, saying it was a “consensual” act and that he had done no wrong.

“However, it is a matter of deep regret that the Government at the Centre has been waging a proxy war against my Government and my party through unscrupulous officers in the Delhi Police and other nefarious elements,” said the Chief Minister in the letter.

“Politically motivated cases are being foisted upon AAP legislators. In many cases, the courts have castigated the Delhi Police for its malafide action against AAP leaders,” he said.

“My Government is the first in our parliamentary history which has sacked three of its Ministers when prima facie evidence of impropriety came to the fore. However, it is a matter of deep regret... politically motivated cases are being foisted upon AAP legislators,” he further said.

In his letter, Kejriwal also said his Government was committed to taking strictest possible action against those found to be involved in crimes against women.

“Though you have been a BJP politician in the past, I am sure you will rise above your narrow political affiliations and find the full truth in the cases. As in the past my Government will take exemplary action if credible evidence of wrongdoing found against anyone,” he added. In the letter, Kejriwal also raked up the “snoopgate” issue when Modi was Chief Minister of Gujarat.

Kejriwal urged NCW to initiate an enquiry against Modi and BJP president Amit Shah over the alleged snooping of a young woman in Gujarat. “I am annexing herewith substantive documentary and digital evidence of how Modi and Shah snooped and spied on a young woman half their age only because Modiji, who at the time was Chief Minister of Gujarat, had developed ‘unusual interest’ in that woman,” Kejriwal said in his letter.

“I would urge you to initiate an enquiry and take the strongest possible action against the duo,” he added.

On Sunday, defending AAP legislator Amanatullah Khan, Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, who was the prime mover in the Delhi Government in the absence of CM Arvind Kejriwal, sought to blunt the BJP’s attacks raking up the alleged snooping of a woman in Gujarat, and drew parallels of it with the Monica lewinsky case of the US. He dared the media to dig deeper into the “snoopgate” scandal.
