Kejriwal Govt to rope in pvt sponsors for 'mohalla clinics'

After Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had inaugurated the first low cost ‘mohalla clinic’ last week and declared that 1,000 more such clinics will be opened within a year, the State Health Department is planning to invite  private sponsors to assist the Government for the good cause. The Government is also making preparation for digitisation of the entire health sector for easy functioning of the Health department for the welfare of the people.

In annual budget for 2015-2016, Health Minister Satyendra Jain had announced that 500 mohalla clinics will be made operational across the national Capital. However, with the success of first low health care clinic at Peeragarhi JJ cluster, Government is now planning to take the sponsorship of the private players.

“The Government wants that private sponsors like TATA, Reliance and other corporate houses to come forward and help in the opening more such mohalla clinics,” said an official from State Health Department.

Moreover, the doctors and physicians at the mohalla clinic will be provided with the electronic tablets to maintain the record of the patients.

“Instead of files and papers, doctors will be having tablets to note down the patients’ health record,” said the official.
