Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh each to the kin of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for those injured in the Mundka building fire incident that claimed 27 lives.
The Chief Minister along with his deputy, Manish Sisodia visited the site of the blaze to take stock of the situation.
“The Delhi Government has ordered a Magisterial Enquiry into the matter and will ensure the strictest possible punishment for culprits,” said Kejriwal.
Kejriwal also consoled the grieving families and reinforced that the Delhi Government stands in solidarity with them and will do whatever possible to help them in this hour of pain.
“I am deeply pained and anguished to see the tragedy that has transpired at this complex in Mundka. We are all trying to rescue as many lives as possible. The fire was so devastating that it has become difficult to identify some bodies. We have set up a DM Helpdesk at the site to aid those filing missing reports,” said Kejriwal.
“We will identify the bodies through DNA testing as well. Even though no amount can make up for the loss of one's life, as a measure of support the Delhi Government will provide an ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakhs to the families of all the deceased and Rs 50
thousands for the injured,” said Kejriwal.
Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain had visited the site on Friday night.
