Kejri's no ripple, but a tsunami: Tabrik Currimbhoy

Adding an intriguing political flavour to the ongoing Delhi literature Festival (DlF), political enthusiast, Tabrik Currimbhoy on Saturday discussed the possibility of the rule by a Third Front in the upcoming lok Sabha elections. Author of Prisoner, Jailor Prime Minister, Tabrik in his talk on Day Two of DlF 2014 said Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is no ripple but “a small tsunami in front of a giant tsunami (Narendra Modi).”

While the country’s non-decisiveness in politics has roused a thrill around the polls scheduled in May, Tabrik’s book only compels its readers to envision a more complex political scenario in the country where Siddhartha Tagore, the protagonist and a Harvard grad, becomes India’s Prime Minister from a non-Congress and non-BJP party.

Since his new book tells about the scorching account of menacing politics and the fascinating journey of a volatile personality to 7 Race Course, he opined, “Modi will have to sit in the Opposition if CPM gives outside support to the Congress as a Third Front. The other alternative to non-Congress and non-BJP Government is ‘rainbow politics’ and this is not new in our system.” He did not rule out the possibility of Mamata Banerjee, Jayalalithaa and Mayawati coming out as winners in their States irrespective of the Modi or Kejriwal wave. But as the prologue in his book reads, he also predicted a mid-term election in 2016.

Calling Kejriwal a revolutionary instead of an ‘anarchist’, Tabrik said, “Kejriwal is not an anarchist. He is rather a revolutionary. But his actions are such that it disturbs the Constitution which is equally dangerous.” He also added that Modi’s comment about late Sunanda Tharoor, calling her a ‘`50 crore girlfriend’ of Shashi Tharoor, was too sexist. “The

BJP is controlled by the RSS, while Congress is run by a single family. The coming Government, whoever finds it, will be that of a Vedic democracy,” said Tabrik.
