Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s driver has been accused of misusing the wireless set given to him for emergency purposes. JK Vashisth, the driver to the CM, transmitted the message to all the district police control room on Tuesday ordering the police not to allow mediapersons in Chief Minister’s function. The Delhi Police on Wednesday sent a notice to the CM’s office and also decided to send a report of the whole incident including the recording of the accused driver’s voice to the Home Ministry. The conduct of the driver clearly violated the communication code and he may face prosecution.
The drama unfolded on Tuesday at 10.38 am when a wireless message was received by the Delhi Police’s district control room from the Chief Minister’s cavalcade stating that “no mediapersons will be allowed in ‘any’ of the AAP’s functions across the city.” The message also said the Station House Officers (SHOs) will ensure restrictions on the media entry during the AAP’s functions in their respective areas. The caller had used the Chief Minister’s security code. Police said the voice of the caller was quite professional. After the message was relayed on the Delhi Police district nets, the SHOs responded to the instructions within half-an-hour. The message was flashed when Kejriwal was going to attend a function at Bawana in outer Delhi on Tuesday morning.
later it was found that Kejriwal had asked his Officer on Special Duty (OSD) and the political advisor Bibhav Kumar to keep the media away from the Bawana event which he was going to attend. Sources said Kumar asked driver JK Vasishtha to pass the message on Police Control Room at Delhi Secretariat through the wireless set given to them for emergency use only. “He not only informed the Secretariat’s control room but also transmitted a verbal message to every district control room, on which he was not authorised to speak,” said an officer, adding, “The call should be forwarded to all Central Control Room from the Secretariat, where an ACP level officer would have decided whether to send the message to all district’s control room or not.”
Sources in the party said CM had asked Bhibah Kumar to prevent the media for Bawana event only but due to the miscommunication the wrong message was spread. The party leaders however denied commenting on the misuse of the Government’s security apparatus. Spokesperson Ashutosh said he was not aware of any such incident. Police said that Bibhav Kumar and Vasishtha have denied of any such act when contacted. Police has also formed a report of the incident and sending recording of Vasishtha to the Home Ministry. They have sent a notice to the Chief Minister’s office.
