Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyay said on Friday that the conditional apology by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal over the suspicious death of the farmer Gajendra Singh has “brought out the horrifying face of the CM” before the people.
Condemning the CM’s statement that a game of TRP and melodrama is going on, he said that when a farmer dies under suspicious circumstances in the presence of a Chief Minister, its media coverage is natural.
“The way the CM stayed away from people and media for three days to avoid speaking on the mishap which happened in his presence raises a question: Why was the CM staying awayIJ” asked Upadhyay, adding that for Aam Aadmi Party the issue of farmers is nothing but a opportunity to dodirty politics.
“They first tried to mislead the farmers of Delhi. And now to grow politically, they are trying to enter the rural politics through
farmers’ issue of compensation etc. Three weeks ago at a rally in Mundka, the Chief Minister announced a
compensation of `20,000 per acre. But till date, let alone compensation reaching the farmers, even the necessary survey work has not started. Even as the CM is earning cheap publicity through
huge compensation hoardings put up at exchequer’s cost,” he said.
Taking a dig at Arvind Kejriwal’s apology for continuing his speech even after a farmer committed suicide at his rally, Upadhyay said that it’s Kejriwal’s nature to first do things his own
dirty way and later when things go awry, apologise feigning innocence.
“The words of his today’s apology and criticism of media role come out as a shameful conditional apology. A mere apology in the matter will not suffice… There are several questions which he needs to answer,” he said.
