Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday met lieutenant-Governor Najeeb Jung amid demand by a section of AAP MlAs to gauge his mood about the current political scenario in the national Capital.

In a letter to Jung, Kejriwal urged not to dissolve Assembly in the national Capital as his party workers are going to seek referendum from the people whether they should form the Government in Delhi or not. Sources said that former Delhi Chief Minister who was keen to know about the next move of the lieutenant-Governor whether he is intended to recommend the dissolution of State Assembly or toying with the idea to explore the possibility of formation of Government again. Kejriwal also wanted to know whether Congress has given proposal regarding withdrawal of support or not. Kejriwal was accompanied by senior party leader and former Education Minister Manish Sisodia in the nearly half-an-hour meeting with Jung. The AAP leader did not speak to the media after the meeting. l-G has reported to have stated that what ever will only after May 26 when Prime Minister Narendra Modi will take oath.

Jung had not favoured dissolution of the 70-member Delhi Assembly as recommended by the Council of Ministers headed by Kejriwal and kept the Assembly in suspended animation.

Sources said that after crushing defeat in the lok Sabha elections, team Kejriwal has realised their blunder and is keen to concentrate in the national Capital. Besides, following the party’s dismal performance, some AAP MlAs last week had mooted a proposal for the party to once again form Government in Delhi, with support from either BJP or Congress.

Sources in AAP said majority of sitting MlAs in the party do not want fresh election immediately thinking the “Modi wave” may flatten them if polls are held any time soon. The party on Sunday had, however, ruled out the possibility of forming Government in Delhi again. The AAP had won 28 seats in its debut Assembly elections in December last year and had later formed the Government with outside support from the Congress’ eight MlAs.
