Kejri to keep 'crooked' labour Dept on the straight & narrow

Slamming labour Department as one of the most crooked divisions in Delhi Government, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday said, “labour Department officials are supposed to work for the welfare of labourers but they hardly ever work to uplift the poor. My Government has directed the labour Department to ensure at least minimum wages to the working class.”

Kejriwal also announced to fill vacant posts reserved for SC/ST in the Government. He lamented that till date only one person has received a loan of Rs5 lakh from the SC/ST/OBC Commission. Speaking on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar at Vidhan Sabha, Kejriwal said the Father of the Indian Constitution was a champion of the downtrodden and deprived.

“We will ensure all the reserved posts for SC/ST lying vacant in Government departments are filled forthright. Their rights due to them will be enforced in true spirit,” he said. He also announced that the process of making SC/ST certificates in Delhi will be simplified. The Chief Minister said his Government is dedicated to work for the welfare of the people and it was the Government’s duty to fulfil the dream of Ambedkar.

“Salute to Babasaheb Ambedkar. let’s try to implement the Constitution in letter and spirit. That would be the best homage to him,” Kejriwal tweeted on Tuesday. The Chief Minister along with Speaker of Delhi Assembly, Ram Niwas Goel, paid floral tributes to Babasaheb in the premises of Delhi Assembly.

Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia paid homage to Ambedkar at the AAP’s SC/ST wing on Parliament Street. He interacted with the volunteers and members of party’s SC/ST wing, formed in December 2014. Sisodia also participated in a programme held at Chandan Vihar in his constituency of Patparganj to pay tribute to Dr Ambedkar.
