Kejri hits nomination speed bump on roadshow

Failing to file his nomination papers on Tuesday due to time constraints, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener Arvind Kejriwal will now file his papers on Wednesday along with the chief ministerial candidates of rival parties — BJP’s Kiran Bedi and Congress’ Kiran Walia. Though sources have called it a tactical move by Kejriwal, the party clarified that the delay was due to time constraints.

Other leaders from AAP like Alka lamba, Jarnail Singh, Girish Soni and second-in-command Manish Sisodia filed their nominations on Monday. The party had declared that the former CM would start a roadshow at 10 am from Valmiki Mandir at Mandir Marg, which was to pass through RK Ashram lane, RK Ashram Marg, Gole Market, Peshwa Road, Birla Mandir, Kali Bari Marg, GPO, Ashoka Road, Patel Chowk and end at Jantar Mantar.

However, the party chief came to the venue only by 12 noon after which the roadshow began and it took them two-and-a-half hours to reach the GPO and then the rally terminated. Kejriwal, meanwhile, failed to reach the election office before 3 pm. Most of the remaining AAP candidates are also likely to file their nominations on the last day — Wednesday — along with Kejriwal.
