As AAP-led Delhi Government on Friday completed its 49 days in office, the Delhi BJP lashed out at the Government for its “inefficient administration”. Satish Upadhyay, the Delhi BJP chief, said that people are being duped by false promises and Kejriwal was only playing a game of statistics. “Arvind Kejriwal has himself given a lot of importance to his earlier 49 days stint in Government. Therefore, it is natural that we compare his present 49 days tenure with the earlier one. The comparison brings out one similarity, i.e., people being duped by false promises,” said Upadhyay.
Upadhyay added that Kejriwal on both occasions came to power on the promise of reducing power tariff to half and free water for all, but like in his earlier stint this time too he has played a game of statistics. Kejriwal has again forgotten his promise of making discoms to reduce the tariff to half. Instead, within days of power, he gave huge amount as subsidy to discoms. During his last tenure at least 70 per cent consumers got some benefit of subsidy but this time hardly 25 per cent are getting benefitted thanks to his jugglery of 400 units, he added.
Similarly, in the matter of free water too, it is just an illusion as the limit of 670 litres per day has ensured that the benefit is restricted to only 25 per cent of metered consumers. The 49-day Government has not even initiated a discussion to provide potable water lines for 70 per cent of the population of Delhi, which lives in unauthorised colonies, villages and JJ clusters.
“During 49 days, no new development work has been started and corruption, the focal point of AAP campaign, continues as before even as the Government sits upon the appointment of lokayukta. The only visible activity of Kejriwal’s regime is his master blows to his senior party colleagues,” added Upadhyay.
