Kejri calls a truce in radio ad war

Giving a befitting reply to the BJP’s increasingly popular radio campaign against Arvind Kejriwal, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has launched a new ad, doing away with the one against cops and without criticising the BJP and its policies.

The party has put out an advertisement on the radio in response to BJP’s ‘old lady’ advertisement where Kejriwal talks one-on-one to the old lady, where Kejriwal pleads to the lady not to lose faith and forgive him. The advertisement went on air on Wednesday morning and the public response is, reportedly, really good as people have been talking about it all over the social media.

Party spokesperson Atishi Marlena said that earlier they didn’t want to react to BJP’s “negativity” but with the increasing campaign they decided to do it positively without criticising the BJP. “So far our radio campaigns were worked around the Delhi Dialogue and about blueprints that the party has prepared for Delhi. However, when the BJP started attacking the AAP in their campaign we had several internal discussions. We wanted to respond but we were very clear that we won’t do what the BJP has done and in no way attack it. Thus, we decided to come out with a positive advertisement, which actually has an emotional connect with listeners,” said Marlena.

The advertisement begins with Kejriwal introducing himself and stating that recently he heard an old lady’s voice who was extremely upset because she voted for him and then he resigned from the post of the Chief Minister. He goes on to say, “She thought I didn’t respect her vote. Today I’m addressing that lady. I want to assure her that I haven’t run away anywhere. In few days, I will be back in your service with full majority. Just please keep showering your blessings on me. Neither has your vote gone waste nor has your hard work. What lacked were a few Assembly seats. You keep this trust in us and bless us and we will come back to you with full majority for five years. Now don’t be upset with me and please smile a little.”

The advertisement connects with the “aam janta” and also comes forward as a direct rebuttal to the BJP advertisement. The advertisement, however, will only be aired on radio channels on peak slots, which are from 7 am to 11 am and 5 pm to 7 pm while the BJP advertisement is aired all day. However, a few radio channels are even playing the two advertisements back to back, which sounds like a conversation between the old lady and Kejriwal.
