Kathputli Colony transit camp on shaky ground?

Published on:

While the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) is gradually shifting residents of Kathputli Colony to a temporary camp at Anand Parbat, there are a few groups who are complaining about the condition of the houses in the camp. MlA from Rajinder Nagar, RP Singh has claimed that the houses in the camp are structurally unfit and are prone to fall during strong winds and rain.

“The authority must take immediate steps to enhance structural stability and wind load capability of transit camp. Whenever there is a storm, the roofs are often blown away. Measures must be taken immediately to avoid any major mishap as stormy and rainy days are coming. The houses must once again be checked and certified by government engineer,” Singh stated in a letter sent to DDA Vice-Chairman Balvinder Kumar.

He said that the authority should also undertake maintenance of lift and other maintenance charges in the new houses to be allotted to them as habitants won’t be able to afford any such overheads.
