Three alleged chain snatchers were caught in police decoy operation. With the arrest of the trio, police claimed to have busted a gang of chain snatchers in Karol Bagh thereby solving 12 reported cases of chain snatching in Central and East Delhi in the recent months. The accused have been identified as Ranjeet Singh, Jaswinder Singh, the two alleged snatchers and one Harish Chand, who is a jeweller by profession. Chand used to buy stolen jewellery from the duo. Police have recovered one motorcycle and five stolen gold chains from their possession. “On June 6, we laid a trap near Jassa Ram Hospital where a constable Pooja, wearing a gold chain, posed as a local looking for bus,” said Deputy Commissioner Parmaditya. Soon two bikers came and were looking for an opportunity to strike, when police signalled them to stop, they tried to flee but were instantly overpowered.
