After spending over a year in jail, former Haryana Minister Gopal Goyal Kanda, an accused in airhostess Geetika Sharma suicide case, was on Thursday granted interim bail till October 4 by a city court to allow him to attend the State Assembly session.

Additional Sessions Judge MC Gupta granted relief to Kanda considering “special circumstances” that he has to attend the Assembly session and has to look after the development of his constituency Sirsa. The court directed Kanda to furnish a personal bond of Rs 5 lakh and two sureties of the like amount. It also imposed several conditions on him, including that he will not leave the country.

Recently, the court had also granted interim bail till November 15 to Aruna Chadha, Kanda’s employee and co-accused, for attending religious and family events. The airhostess was found dead on August 5 last year. In her suicide note, she had blamed “harassment” by Kanda and Chadha. Chadha and Kanda are accused of abetting the suicide of the 23-year-old former airhostess earlier employed in Kanda’s MDlR Airlines.
