Delhi Police has arrested an 18-year-old juvenile for murdering an employee of Digambar Jain Temple in Jangpura on Monday. The accused Rahul Sharma was being “sexually abused” by the employee, who was a homosexual.

The deceased, according to medical reports, was stabbed 25-30 times across his chest, neck and genitals. On Sunday morning, one Ashok Kumar informed police that Hanuman Pandey (40), a cleaner at Digambar Jain temple, who was kept on the job just two weeks ago, was found lying naked in a pool of blood in his room on the second floor of the temple. On this, a case was registered at the Hazrat Nizamuddin police station and probe was launched.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-West) N Gnana Sambandan, a team from Maurya Enclave police station received a tip-off that a murder accused, identified as Rahul, would try to escape to his native place Badaun in UP.

“On this, a team was constituted and he was arrested from Sarai Kale Khan bus depot. When he was caught, he was trying to hide his lacerated hands in his trouser pocket and when confronted, confessed to having committed the crime,” said Sambandan. During interrogation Rahul, who runs a mobile shop in Sarai Kale Khan, revealed that Hanuman Pandey was a homosexual. “Three months ago, Rahul came in contact with Pandey, who used to call him to his rented house in Sarai Kale Khan to establish unnatural physical relations,” said Sambandan.
