The juvenile accused of striking 11-year-old Roshan lama with a javelin was detained by Delhi Police. A Physical Training Instructor (PTI) who was hired on a contract basis was also arrested by Delhi Police.
It has been three days since Roshan lama, a Class VI student, was allegedly struck by a javelin on his temple during an unsupervised practice session on the school grounds by one of his seniors. The juvenile student accused of throwing the javelin had reportedly escaped to Dehradun in Uttarakhand. He was apprehended by Delhi Police on Thursday.
“The juvenile was apparently scared after the incident and fled to Dehradun. His father extended full support to the police and joined the investigation. He also went along with the police to help them nab his son. He was later produced in court today,” said a police official.
The juvenile claimed that other people were playing in the ground with the javelin and he just took it to prevent any accidents and therefore, threw it. The police had earlier arrested the Physical Training Instructor (PTI) Sushil Kumar of the Government School. The police have now also arrested the other PTI Jitesh Chawla (30) who was employed as the school’s sports instructor on a contract basis.
In the meantime, Roshan’s condition showed no signs of improvement. Suraj lama, Roshan’s father, said that doctors have told him that they have done their needful and hope for divine intervention. “The doctors told me that even if my son survives he would be comatose all his life. I have just heard through the media about the arrests but why have they not arrested the Principal and the Vice-Principal. Ultimately they are the top authority and the school’s functioning is under them,” he said.
