A 17-year-old juvenile was apprehended from North West Delhi’s Subhash Place for allegedly raping and extorting money from a fashion design student. After raping her, the juvenile was threatening and blackmailing her that he would release her obscene pictures and video online if she informed anyone about the incident or refused to pay up.
Police said that the juvenile lived with his parents in Subhash Place. He runs a sweetmeat shop with his mother.
“The juvenile was apprehended on October 16 following a complaint by the 17-year-old student. The victim told police that he allegedly raped her and was extorting money from her,” a senior police officer said, adding that based on the victim’s complaint, a case was registered under Sections 376 (rape) 384 (extortion) and 506 (threatening) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and several Sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act against the juvenile at Subhash Place Police Station in North West Delhi.
Police said the juvenile and the girl were in the same school in Rani Bagh. After passing out, she came in contact with the juvenile on a social networking site four months ago.
“The juvenile befriended the victim on a social networking site. Some weeks later, they planned a rendezvous at a coffee shop. Few months ago, she went with the juvenile to a club where he offered her a spiked beverage. As per the victim’s statement, he took her to an isolated place after she fell unconscious. He then sexually assaulted her,” the officer added.
The victim told police, after raping her, the juvenile first threatened and later blackmailed her that he would upload her pictures and video online if she ratted him out or refused to pay up.
“Even though the victim feared her reputation would be sullied, she plucked up the courage to narrate the ordeal to her parents who informed police last Tuesday. later, she was taken to a hospital for a medical examination, which confirmed rape,” a police officer said, adding that after registering the case, police started their investigation and acting on the information provided by the victim, the juvenile was apprehended from his residence and sent to an observation home.
