The incumbent Vice Chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia University, Najeeb Jung, who prepared to take charge as Delhi’s 20th lieutenant Governor, has no qualms on being dissociated from the University which underwent a sea-change during his four-year stint.
Confident of timely completion of the tasks undertaken by him, he said he would enthuse his successor. Jung, who frequently hit the headlines for his tough action against teachers and students in the University, stood firmly by his stand, saying ‘the firings were not without reason’. “Anything against the Act of the Jamia Millia Islamia cannot be tolerated. A due procedure was followed before sacking them,” he said, adding the removal of inept teachers also gave "a big amount of motivation to our colleagues”. “No organisation can prosper without motivation, affection and encouragement. The university is now providing the students an atmosphere where they can produce result,” he held.
