Ghaziabad police registered a criminal case against a woman for throwing acid on a veterinary doctor on Monday late night. The FIR was lodged by Piyush Kumar Verma, the maternal uncle of the victim.
According to the FIR, the accused Shahnaz, who is a resident of Meerut, is absconding. Efforts are being made to arrest her as a team of officers has been formed, said Circle Officer of Indirapuram Atul Yadav.
According to police, the woman barged into the residence of Amit Verma and threw acid on him while he was sleeping in his bedroom. The woman fled from the spot leaving the doctor crying for help. The family members rushed him to Yashoda hospital where his condition was said to be critical.
“Verma shifted his clinic to Vaishali about six months ago. The family members informed us that Verma had an affair with a woman who had joined his clinic in 2015,” said Circle Officer Atul Yadav.
