In a daring daylight robbery, three masked men, armed with pistols, barged into a jewellery shop in Badshahpur area and robbed 350 grams gold worth of Rs10 lakh. The incident took place on Tuesday afternoon.

The goons carried out the loot after holding the owner on gun point. The crime was caught on CCTV footage. Police officers said they are scanning the footage to identify the robbers.

According to police, the incident took place around 2.30 pm, when Virender Kumar, owner of Bharat Jewellery in Badshahpur area, was at his shop with his helpers. The owner said that the robbers arrived on a motorbike and within seconds three men entered into his shop with country-made pistols in their hands.

He said their faces were hidden with Gamcha (towel) and they warned Kumar to make no move otherwise they would shoot him, the police said.

One of the accused held victim captives, while the others emptied his jewellery on display and in the safe and put them inside a bag which they were carrying. Once the miscreants had fled, Kumar ran out of his showroom and alerted local residents and neighbours, after which a PCR call was made.

“We immediately rushed to the spot after getting information along with forensic team. CCTV footage from the incident spot is being scanned to identify the robbers and trace the vehicles used in the crime. The number of the bike was not clear in the footage. We have received footage of the shop which is situated in a residential area. The shop employees are also being questioned. We have registered a case and are probing the matter,” Provisional Sub-Inspector (PSI), Praveen Kumar, the investigating officer, said.
