Department of Electrical Energy, Jamia Millia Islamia is organising one-week MHRD-Global Initiative of Academic Network (GIAN) Course on “Advances in Power Electronics & Renewable Energy Sources” from February 6.
The course is introduced to teach the research challenges in the area of power electronics and its application. The course is a response to the exponential increase in energy demand today. Given that fossil fuels have limited reservoirs, there is severe fear of an impending energy crisis complicated by climate change concerns. Renewable energy sources are seen as a solution to these concerns.
The expert faculty will be Prof Akhtar Kalam, Head of Engineering and has been at Victoria University, Australia since 1985. Course coordinator will be Ahteshamul Haque, senior member — IEEE and Assistant Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering.
The objective of the initiative is to expose participants to the advancements in renewable energy sources and its conversion process, provide the students with background of power electronics and its control requirement for renewable energy sources, give them exposure to the various types of renewable energy systems and to enhance the capability of researchers to develop and solve the existing issues and to work on upcoming areas in this field. The course will be of much interest to industrialists, researchers and Governments.
