Deeply upset over the murder of a 58-year-old assistant legal adviser with the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) outside his residence in south-east Delhi’s Jamia Nagar on Monday evening, some residents on Tuesday gave a call for a protest outside the police station on Wednesday.
“The incident took place around 7.30 pm on Monday,” said a police officer, adding that the officer was identified as Md Moin Khan, who was with the NDMC for the last 20 years. Khan was on his way back home in his car when two unidentified men came on bike and intercepted him, posing as strangers looking for an address. “The two men allegedly stopped him and asked about a location where they said they are going to meet somebody,” added the officer.
According to police officials, Khan rolled down his window to guide them but before he could have realised, the accused fished out a pistol and fired two shots at him and managed to escape. “The accused fired two shots at his chest and fled the spot subsequently,” said the officer. There were locals who witnessed the crime and one of them, after the incident, rushed Khan to a nearby hospital. “Khan was declared brought dead by the doctors,” said police.
