Delhi Police have chargesheeted one of its constables and a private detective for allegedly buying a SIM card on fake proofs in procuring the call detail records of BJP leader Arun Jaitley and others.
In its chargesheet filed in the court in a case arising out of the probe into Jaitley phone-tapping case, the special cell of Delhi Police said constable Arvind Dabas, 35, and Neeraj Nayar, 36, had used the SIM card to “illegally procure” call detail records (CDRs) of many persons by using official e-mail ids of authorised police officials.
The Pioneer first reported the matter pertaining to procurement of CDR of Jaitley. Dabas, Nayar and two others were earlier chargesheeted in an another court in the phone-tapping case by the special cell which had alleged they were involved in a racket of illegally obtaining CDRs. The latest chargesheet was filed by the police before Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Sanjay Bansal who, after taking cognisance of it, fixed the matter for May 24 for scrutiny of documents.
The police had on March 8 registered a fresh FIR against Nayar and Dabas saying they had fraudulently procured a SIM card which was used by them in the crime. Both the accused, who were arrested on March 11, are now lodged in Tihar Jail under judicial
custody. The police, in their chargesheet, said that during their probe, it has been established that Nayar had purchased a SIM card on fake ID.
