Delhiites continued to reel under the intense heat wave on Monday as mercury breached the 45°C mark in the Capital making it the hottest day of the season so far with the maximum temperature recorded 45.5°C, five notches above the season’s average, while the minimum temperature was recorded a notch above the normal at 28°C, said Meteorological Department officials.
Also, the Palam observatory recorded a maximum temperature of 46.4°C, with five notches above the season’s average. As people reeled under the intense heatwave, the humidity level oscillated between 63 per cent and 19 per cent. However, there can be some respite from the sweltering heat on Tuesday with the weatherman predicting duststorm and thunderstorm. “Mainly clear sky will turn partly cloudy. Duststorm and thunderstorm could occur in some areas on Tuesday,” the weatherman predicated. Meanwhile, “the maximum and minimum are expected to hover at 45°C and 28°C,” a MeT official said.
