IOC mngr divested of car, valuables by masked muggers

A 26-year-old assistant manager with Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) was robbed of his car and valuables by four persons, including a woman, while he was returning home from a party in Outer Delhi’s South Rohini area. The incident took place during the early hours of Sunday.

Sourabh Gautam, employed with IOC in Karnal, was on a visit to his home in Rohini. His parents are currently on a visit to his elder brother who lives in the US. On Saturday evening, Gautam left in his Hyundai Accent for his friend’s place in Keshav Puram to attend a party. His car was intercepted by a white WagonR near Ayodhya Chowk at around 2.30 am on Sunday.

One person got off the WagonR and forced Gautam out of his car at gunpoint. Two other armed men then threatened to shoot him if he did not part with his cash and valuables. The victim pointed to his mobile phone and wallet kept in his car. The robbers then divided themselves into two groups and drove away in the two vehicles. Gautam said that the four robbers included a masked woman who did not emerge from the WagonR during the mugging.

The victim then walked back to his home and narrated the incident to his neighbour who accompanied him to the local police station. A case in this connection has been registered and investigations taken up.

There has, however, been little headway in the case so far. Police have no clue about the robbers as Gautam was too rattled to jot down the registration number. Police said they suspect the role of someone known to the victim and are questioning some of them.
