The Delhi Traffic Police has fined Rs 2,000 to Indian National lok Dal (INlD) MP Dushyant Chautala for riding a tractor to reach Parliament to attend the first day of the Winter Session beginning from Friday. Riding a polished green tractor, Chautala, who is also the youngest MP in the history of Parliament, reached Parliament in style to attend the House proceeding. He is MP from Hisar.

According to sources, police penalised him of Rs 2,000 for driving the tractor near Parliament, a highly-secured zone. Using tractor as a transport mode is banned in New Delhi and lutyens’ Zone. He was initially blocked by security officials at Parliament, who said entry of tractors was not allowed. The MP was, however, allowed to take the vehicle inside after he claimed that he had taken special permission from the Speaker in advance. A senior police official said the law maker should not be allowed to use tractor or any other banned vehicles inside Parliament premises.

Chautala said that he rode a tractor in protest against tweaking of certain rules relating to the Motor Vehicles Act which, he claimed, would add to farmers’ woes. this is not the first time an Indian lawmaker has grabbed headlines for such acts.
