Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday delivered a cryptic four-minute speech on the debate on motion of thanks in the Assembly that lasted for six hours. Kejriwal concluding his short speech by saying that there may be shortcomings in his party and the Government but their intentions were pure.

Replying to the motion of thanks, the Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has appealed both Congress and BJP members to cooperate with AAP Government to solve problems of Delhi. “You (BJP and Congress MlAs) have done a good job. Don’t let us sleep and keep us on our toes. We may have shortcomings and lack vision, but I want to assure the House that we have pure intention,” he said.

Calling for better coordination between members of the Opposition and the Government, he said that “28 MlAs” cannot handle the situation, but Delhi has to come together to solve the problems. That will happen later, but at least all 70 members should have coordination,” he said in his four minute speech.

He added that swaraj (self-rule) cannot be brought without dialogue. “It’s for our future... Our children’s future,” Kerjiwal said. He noted that the discussion in the house saw positive criticism and burning issues came to light. He said that while criticising and advising him, some MlAs used soft language, some used harsh, while some of them used very harsh language. “Many issues which were raised by the House members were not part of the l-G’s speech, but they are equally important. I want to assure the house that I will take into account all the points,” Kejriwal said.

Earlier initiating the debate on motion of thanks on l-G address, senior BJP leader and former Finance Minister Prof Jagdish Mukhi accused that there was nothing new in the l-G address and it was repeated agenda of the AAP. They also accused that Kejriwal accusing it of resorting to “symbolism” on various issues and “failing” to adhere to deadlines on a number of initiatives. He also alleged Kejriwal with taking a “U-turn” on probing cases of alleged corruption against the previous Congress government, Mukhi also raised the issue of Chanan Devi Hospital incident and condemned it.

“In a shameful instance, the body of a newborn girl who died at Chanan Devi Hospital in Janakpuri was found dumped with biological wastes at the backyard of the hospital,” he said. Mukhi also criticised that AAP has forgotten the issue of price rise and l-G address was silent. “The party has won the election on this issue but the issue is missing from the l-G address,” he said. The BJP leader said the Chief Minister had also announced that he will roll back the CNG price hike.
