Induct Dalit, women MlAs in Cabinet: loP Gupta to Govt

Published on:

leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta on Sunday demanded that women, Dalits and MlAs from rural areas be inducted into the Delhi’s Cabinet and given proper representation in the Government.

Gupta said the AAP party had promised during the elections that they would give priority to women, Dalits and people from rural areas. However, it has proven to be another of fictitious electoral claims made by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

“AAP Minister Sandeep Kumar was caught sexually exploiting a woman on the pretext of providing her ration card. After severe public backlash and Sandeep’s proven culpability, the AAP removed him from the Cabinet on September 4, 2016,” said the BJP leader.

“Since then the quota from Minister belonging to Scheduled Caste community has been left vacant, even when out of the 67 MlAs of AAP, many belong to the SC community,” he further said.

“The Delhi Government has many women MlAs, yet there is no place for women in their Cabinet. Among the plethora of promises made on women safety and welfare, they have not been able to fulfil even one,” said Gupta

“They made a commitment to make full proof arrangements to ensure security of working women from workplace to their homes and install CCTVs all over Delhi to curb crime against women. They had claimed that guards would be employed in public buses. However, none of these promises have seen the light of the day,” he added.
