Ballimaran MlA Imran Hussain on Tuesday took oath as Minister in the Delhi Cabinet, replacing Asim Ahmed Khan, who was sacked by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for over alleged graft charges.
lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung administered the oath of office and secrecy to Hussain at Raj Niwas in presence of Kejriwal, his deputy Manish Sisodia, leader of Opposition Vijender Gupta, Cabinet Ministers Satyendar Jain, Gopal Rai, Kapil Mishra and Sandeep Kumar, the Chief Secretary and other senior officials.
Although there was no mention of his portfolios, Hussain is expected to get the same departments handled by Khan. Hussain, who was the popular choice of Kejriwal after Khan’s sacking, is one of the three minority faces in the Delhi legislative Assembly. The 34-year-old first time legislator, who did his Bachelors in Business Studies from Jamia Millia Islamia, defeated BJP’s Shayam lal Morwal by a margin 33,877 votes and Congress heavyweight Haroon Yusuf in the 2015 Assembly polls.
