IMA questions UP Govt about preparations in NCR region

The Uttar Pradesh (UP) branch of Indian Medical Association (IMA) has questioned the preparedness of the State Government to tackle the dengue cases in its National Capital Region (NCR). In a statement issued by the IMA, it has clarified that the prevailing confusion that private hospitals are not cooperating with the Government in treating dengue patients is false, and that the private hospitals are admitting whosoever is coming to them for treatment.

Dr Sharad K Agrawal, president of the IMA, said measures to stop the spread of dengue are the job of the Government agencies like health department and the municipal bodies as maintaining a hygienic atmosphere in public cannot be expected to be done by the private hospitals.

“Maximum tests are being conducted by the private labs while the test reports from the Government-owned laboratories are not trustworthy. Even then, such atmosphere is being created that private hospitals are not cooperating with the Government in tackling the dengue cases,” he said.

Dr Ajay Agrawal, the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), however, said the private hospitals are not cooperating at all.

“We have issued directions to them to send us the test reports which are found positive, but they have not complied with the instructions,” added CMO.
