The Gurugram district medical team unravelled an illegal 'Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Centre' in Sector-55 on Wednesday afternoon.
The medical team conducted a raid on the centre around 1 pm on Wednesday with the Deputy Commissioner's office team. The medical team has rescued around 27 youths from all over India who were illegally held as hostages in the centre.
Acting on a tip-off, the district medical team raided the illegal centre which was run without any legal documents.
"It was an unregistered rehabilitation centre which was running without any proper registration. No one can run such kind of unauthorised rehabilitation centre in the city," said Pushpa Bishnoi, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Gurugram.
"We have rescued around 27 youth from the centre, who belongs to Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Manipur and some other States," she said. However, sources said all the youths are getting fresh food on a daily basis and they have no problems living in the rehabilitation centre.
"All the youths were living there with the knowledge of their parents and the centre was getting `5 to 8 thousand from each youth to look after them," said ASI Vinod Kumar, the investigation officer of the case.
