While the Government faced criticism over the management of shelter homes for homeless in the national Capital, students of IIT Delhi have proposed a start-up to make “reusable and modular” homes which can be installed in six hours.
The start-up was presented at the ongoing Business Conclave of Delhi University’s Sri Ram College of Commerce where the IITians claimed that ‘Synergy’ which is the name of the start-up would be “affordable” for the builders and could be “reused at least six to seven times” with the “unique material”.
The students have essentially framed the idea to first help the construction labourers across the city.
“We need funds for further research and development. We have taken the School of Planning and Management in board who will look after the designing while the Amrapali group has given consent to help in the installation of the structure,” said the co-founder of the Synergy Sandeep Jain.
Jain said they would be using plastic waste as the material, bamboo sticks and other durable material. The start-up would be located at Noida Century Park.
The annual management fest of SRCC saw various start-ups making a business pitch. Another interesting start-up, Kiosking promised to make street food more hygienic by working with street vendors. There were 10 start-ups at the event. The three day management fest started on Wednesday which saw a session with the founders of various start-ups including Saurabh Kochhar from Foodpanda, Ankur Warikoo from Nearbuy, Navneet Singh from Peppertap, Kashyap Deorah from Goldentap, and Rohan Verma from MapmyIndia.
While the second day personalities like Derek O’Brien and activist Medha Patker addressed the students, Friday the college would be ready to listen to renowned bollywood actor, Rishi Kapoor.
