An Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) BA IInd year student who was, allegedly, raped by her tenant faces police apathy in Ghaziabad. In her complaint to the SSP, the rape victim alleges police indifference.
In her complaint to Ghaziabad SSP Sachi Ghildiyal, the victim — a resident of Shalimar Garden in Ghaziabad — states that Intazar took a room at their place on lease. During his three-month tenancy, he endeared himself to the family. She is also the younger daughter of the widowed landlady.
Seeing the family in financial dire straits, Intazar offered the landlady’s daughter a job as a receptionist in his logistics firm. What started as a routine friendship had, in fact, thinly veiled sexual overtones. The accused managed to photograph the beguiling girl and have the temerity to morph it. He asked the girl’s mother to cough up Rs 75,000 failing which he’d upload the altered images online. To keep up appearances, the girl unwittingly stole her mother’s jewels. The accused stoutly refused to hand over the photographs. Not wanting to deal with an aggro tenant, he was shunted out. A month later, he turned up at their doorstep, this time to say he was dabbling in real estate and had an office in loni. Sensing he had turned over a new leaf, the girl visited his office on February 22. She was raped in his office. Conscience-stricken, the girl stayed mum. When she was raped yet again on March 8 in Intazar’s office, she finally confessed to her mother.
But before that, he had already obtained the girl’s signature on a blank sheet of paper under the guise of applying for a driving licence. The girl was also brainwashed into thinking she was betrothed to him and was a Muslim with Shaina as her sobriquet.
