Security has been tightened further at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport following Intelligence inputs that terrorists may target Delhi-Kabul flights of Air India, officials said.

“Security around all the airports has been strengthened and we have taken necessary measures to avoid any untoward incidents,” official sources said on Sunday.  Spotters were deployed to keep an eye on any suspicious movement and more Quick Response Teams (QRTs)  have been deployed to deal with emergencies.

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), the Delhi Police, security agencies and Airport Authority of India also held emergency meetings to tighten the security apparatus. Authorities have enhanced passengers’ checking at all major international airports, especially the  IGI Airport. The airport staff has also been asked to carry out checking of the cabin baggage once the boarding is competed and even the airport staff is being thoroughly checked by the airport security personnel, they said.
