A senior police officer said that the matter came to light on Sunday when the girl, a JNU student, approached the local police station where she gave a written complaint against the IES officer. The police sources said that in her written complaint, the victim has alleged that she knew the accused for the past six years. The accused has been sexually assaulting the complainant since 2012.

At that time, the victim was a minor. She has further alleged that the accused, Rakesh Meena has been stalking her on social media and has been threatening to defame her by putting up her objectionable pictures. Moreover, the victim alleged that the accused even threatened to kill her if she did not continue their relationship.

A senior police officer said, “We have registered a case based on the written complaint given by the girl.”

Police said that since the charges against the IES officer were serious, they arrested him on Monday and produced him before a city court that sent him to judicial custody for 11 days.

Talking about the case, another senior officer said that since the victim has claimed that she was being sexually assaulted even when she was a minor, police had registered a case under Sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
