BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain on Friday received a threat letter. A case was registered at North Avenue police station after the threat letter was received.

While confirming receiving a threat letter, the BJP leader said, “I’ve received a threatening letter which had derogatory content against my party and my statements.”

Hussain further said the letter has been handed over to police and an FIR has been registered.

“I’m not going to be scared of such threats,” the BJP leader said. “The letter was sent through a regular post so is suspected to be a prank letter, however, while not dismissing the sensitivity of the case, police have swung into action to identify the sender and take appropriate actions,” said senior police official.

The letter, addressed to the senior BJP leader, was a handwritten in Urdu and contained an ‘offensive’ remarks against various public figures, including Baba Ramdev.

Ahead of the Republic Day celebrations, the National Investigating Agency (NIA) on Friday held a number of terror suspects from across the country. The NIA is on its toes to ensure foolproof security during the event.
