I haven't lost, BJP has and must introspect: Kiran Bedi

Stung by the massive electoral drubbing, Kiran Bedi on Tuesday said it was not her defeat as she gave her best and felt it was a loss for BJP, which should introspect about the debacle. The party, on the other hand, accepted its “massive defeat” in Delhi Assembly polls with all humility and admitted that it failed to gauge the mood of the people.

The 65-year-old activist-turned-politician said the BJP should reflect on why it had managed to win only 3 out of 70 seats. “I haven’t lost. I gave it all my best; I would lose if I wouldn’t have given my best. BJP as a party has lost. let the party introspect. It is a very interesting national cadre-based party. I hope BJP will do its reflection and I am sure you will understand and get to know why the BJP lost,” said Bedi, who also suffered a shocking defeat from the party’s bastion Krishna Nagar. Veteran BJP leader and Union Minister Harsh Vardhan had been winning the seat before he vacated it after emerging victorious in the lok Sabha election.

Stating that it will honestly introspect the reasons for the defeat, the BJP also said that the loss in Delhi is a “collective failure” of the party and the defeat cannot be thrown on any single individual, seen as an attempt to deflect any blame on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It also hoped that the party will resurrect after seriously looking into the reasons. The party congratulated AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal on his party’s landslide victory and hoped he will fulfil the promises made by him ahead of polls and assured the Centre’s support to his Government in Delhi without any political discrimination.
