Niseeth Jha, the husband of the late Assamese actress and singer Bidisha Bezbaruah has sent to one-day police remand by the district court and is being interrogated. Police, on Wednesday, applied for one-day remand of the accused to collect laptop, phones and also check Call Detail Records (CDR) of Jha and Bidisha to determine the sequence of events that led to the actress talking extreme step.
Bidisha, who had acted in Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif starrer Jagga Jasoos, had reportedly met Jha while working for a company in Delhi in 2014. After two years of their friendship they got married in April 2016. “But Bidisha did not inform us about the dalliance of her husband with another woman. She however, confided with us only in January this year that husband was having an extra-marital relation with his colleague in Mumbai,” the victim’s father Aswini Bezbaruah said.
“Niseeth cheated my daughter as he was already in a relationship with another woman before marriage and he concealed this truth from us. I also spoke to him and he felt sorry for his actions and promised me he will not contact that woman in future,” he added.
Her brother Kaushik alleged that Bidisha wanted to walk out of the marriage. “But we counselled her to give their relationship another chance that’s why she had shifted to Gurugram last week as she was not comfortable with Niseeth in Mumbai.
“She was not happy in her marriage and things turned worse in the last six months. On Monday, she had called me around 5 pm and said she wanted a divorce. I asked her to be relaxed and also tried to speak to Niseeth in Mumbai but he did not talk to me. Around 9 pm on the same day police informed me that that my daughter was dead” said her inconsolabe father.
“Niseeth was not returning to Gurugram from Mumbai for the last three to four days. This made my daughter even more depressed. She also spoke to her husband the day she committed suicide,” Aswini, said.
“Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has spoken to me and assured justice for my deceased daughter,” he added.
Bidisha’s teacher remembered her as a complete artist and a jolly personality. “She was perfect in four languages that are English, Hindi, Assamese and Bengali. She was a good dancer, singer and stage performer as well,” Prof Shashwati Goswami, her theatre teacher, said.
Talking about her movie projects her teacher said, “Working in the movies was her hobby.”
Meanwhile, police said they will examine the call details of the deceased and her husband. “We have to examine mobile phones call details, Facebook and other social networking site conversations of both victims and the accused. Police team will also verify facts about the allegations,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Deepak Saharan.
Bidisha was a popular Assamese actor and singer and was last seen in the recently released Hindi film Jagga Jasoos. She allegedly committed suicide on Monday night, by hanging at her rented accommodation in Flat 91, Block B, Sushant Apartment, Sector-43 Gurugram. Police had arrested her husband Jha under section 306 (abetment to suicide) of the IPC after a FIR was lodged at Sushant lok police station.
